A SIMILAR ETHOS

The ideas that come from the mind of fashion designer Rosetta Getty are rooted in values that are strikingly similar to those of ECCO. Therefore, it only seemed right to establish a cross-continental partnership to manifest the brands' shared passion for functionality, minimalism and design. The result is a unique collection of women's footwear inspired by the traditional Danish clog: a sneaker-style, an open and closed-toe design, and a Chelsea boot hybrid. Available in red, yellow, beige, black and white, all models use IFLA™ — a new clog-inspired platform by ECCO.

Growing up in the liberal neighbourhood of Silver Lake, Los Angeles, Rosetta Getty was surrounded by free-spirited hippies and artists who encouraged her to express herself from an early age. This environment fostered a creativity that would become a decisive factor in her life's trajectory: "I started sewing and making clothes when I was around six or seven, but I have been drawn to clothes and fashion ever since I can remember. To be honest, it's always been something that I have spent my time thinking about or doing. So becoming a fashion designer felt like a very natural career path, and I'm lucky enough to do something I really love every day."

Today, Rosetta Getty's eponymous brand is fuelled by the same passion that initially drew her towards fashion; namely a strong desire to wear the beautifully crafted luxury products that exist inside her head. Of course, there is only one way to fulfil such desire, and that is to materialise those very products in real life. So, that was what she did back then and has continued to do ever since, which has led to numerous collections — most of which gravitate towards the kind of elegant functionality and simplicity often associated with Danish design. This caught the attention of ECCO who extended an invitation to the Danish headquarters.

"I NEVER COULD HAVE IMAGINED HOW PROGRESSIVE ECCO IS. IT FELT LIKE SUCH A POSITIVE AND INTERESTING ENVIRONMENT FILLED WITH VERY INTERESTING PEOPLE THAT WORKED TOGETHER HARMONIOUSLY"

ROSETTA GETTY - FASHION DESIGNER

"I never could have imagined how progressive ECCO is. It felt like such a positive and interesting environment filled with very interesting people that worked together harmoniously. It felt like a community. I also didn't realize how pioneering ECCO has been in implementing technology to create more sustainable solutions. They are modest about what they have achieved and clearly have a lot of integrity, which I admire." During her stay in Denmark, it became clear that the admiration was completely reciprocated. Granted access to ECCO's historical archive, Rosetta came across ECCO's take on a traditional Danish 'træsko' (clog) and her eyes lit up. Quite simply, it only made sense to come together for a collaboration that, according to Rosetta, can best be described as "minimal, architectural, luxurious, easy to wear and striking in colour."

When Rosetta went back to her native LA, both parties had left a huge impression on one another, and it became clear that there was a special kinship at play: "I think that we share a similar ethos, we have the same soul. We also possess a profound respect for modern design, functionality, materials and, of course, the environment, and I think that is why this collaboration has been a great creative union. I feel that our core values are fundamentally the same, and I think everything came together really beautifully in the end."
