How to Clean, Care and Protect your suede shoes - In 5 simple steps
‘But stay off of my blue suede shoes,’ Elvis famously sang. Suede is still a special material, as a fashionable and timeless alternative to leather. Do you cherish your suede shoes as much as the king of rock ‘n’ roll once did?
Step 1
A brush made for suede can be used as a simple treatment for many spot stains. Use either the ECCO Eraser or the multi-functional ECCO Nubuck brush.
Step 2
Then remove the insole, spray inside with ECCO refresh and insert shoe trees or stuff the shoes with newspaper to ensure they keep their shape.
Step 3
Apply the ECCO Foam Cleaner to a damp cloth and rub the suede, making firm circular motions. This is perfect, if your suede shoes require more cleaning, as it works like a shampoo on your skin. Let dry for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Once dry, use the ECCO Nubuck & Suede conditioner to restore the colour and softness of the suede. If your shoe has white soles, always use the Transparent version to avoid colour transfer from one surface to the other.
Step 5
Finally, use a water-repellent spray to better protect your shoes against stains and wet weather. Spray the ECCO Repel from 10 inches/25 cm away and leave to dry for 15 minutes.
